Joah McPherson, M.S., CCC-SLP – Lead Teacher & Speech-Language Pathologist

Joah has worked as a speech-language pathologist in many different settings over the past 23 years, including as a team member in several preschool programs. A favorite experience has been working in Early Intervention with young children and their families. This allowed Joah to work closely with families in their homes, childcares and preschools. These experiences inspired the creation of Little Birds Learning: a preschool program that combines her passion for promoting communication development and supporting the connection between young children and their families. The program provides a nurturing place where children can follow their own curiosity and interests to create the foundation for a lifetime love of learning. She is a certified instructor for Hanen: It Takes Two to Talk , Target Word,  More Than Words and is PROMPT Level I certified.

Joah enjoys reading books, going on road trips and spending time with her husband, two teenage sons and her dog, Lucy.

Deslyn Hamon – Lead Teacher

Deslyn moved to Seattle from Austin, Texas in 2014 and loves it here. In 1997, Deslyn earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She holds current Texas Teacher Certificates in Special Education (preschool-21 years) and Elementary Education (first grade-sixth grade). Deslyn has 14 years of experience as an educator and her passion is preschool. She accommodates the children’s development needs and fosters their curiosity through active engagement and gentle guidance. She provides a safe, nurturing, child-directed environment for all children.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my family, eating good food, and playing with my dog. I look forward to meeting the children and getting to know their families.
